Underwriting & Broking

We offer comprehensive underwriting and broking services to our clients. Our underwriting activities are conducted for and on behalf of renowned Group P&I Clubs, including The Shipowners’ P&I Club, Steamship Mutual, and The West of England, as well as for insurance companies and the Lloyd’s market.

Shipowners P&I Club

For The Shipowners’ P&I Club, we manage a portfolio of yachts and fishing vessels comprising several hundred entered ships. In addition, as one of the largest European placing brokers for The Shipowners’ P&I Club, we arrange P&I insurance placements for a wide range of vessels, including tugs, pontoons and various workboats, ranging from dredgers to cargo vessels, tankers and dry cargo ships. We have been providing these services for more than 30 years.

Steamship Mutual

For Steamship Mutual, we manage the inland craft P&I portfolio, comprising approximately 6,000 vessels operating on Europe’s inland waterways. We are pioneers in inland waterway P&I insurance and have been underwriting these risks for more than 50 years.

West of England

For The West of England, we manage a binding authority that enables us to provide both underwriting and claims handling services for a wide range of seagoing vessels. The portfolio focuses primarily on locally trading short sea and specialist vessels. We have been doing so since January 2018.

Lloyd's

As a Lloyd’s Coverholder, Post & Co operates under its own binding authority, one of the longest-running binding authorities in the Lloyd’s market.

Within this binder, we independently develop and underwrite insurance solutions for maritime and logistics liability risks.

Our facilities cover a wide range of exposures, including Owners’, Charterers’, and Transport & Logistics Liability risks, backed by 100% Lloyd’s capacity.

In addition, we play an active broking role for risks that fall outside our underwriting scope, placing them with Lloyd’s and other international insurers.

This combination of Coverholder and Broker enables us to provide flexible, responsive, and tailor-made solutions for complex risks within the maritime and logistics sector.
