Our history
1918 - 1956
In 1918, Jacs Post Jr. moved to Groningen to establish an insurance agency on behalf of a family of insurers based in Amsterdam. At the age of 19, he founded the Noordelijk Assurantiekantoor (NASK) to provide businesses in the northern Netherlands with easier access to insurance services.
In 1941, he established a new company under the name Jacs Post Jr. & Co. All activities related to P&I claims handling and underwriting authorities were transferred to and consolidated within this new company.
1956 - 1960
Shortly before the company’s founder passed away in 1956, the second generation took over the management of all group companies. Sibbert Tj. Post reorganised the business and decided to divest several activities, focusing instead on NASK’s two offices in Rotterdam and Groningen, which were closely linked to what is now known as Post & Co (P&I) B.V.
1960 - 1970
During the prosperous 1960s and 1970s, NASK alone grew to employ 140 people. The third generation of the Post family joined the family business in 1967, and after a brief period, the company's focus shifted to Post & Co (P&I).
1977 - 1999
In 1977, it was decided to separate the activities of the various companies, with Post & Co taking over all P&I operations. This marked an important step towards the company as it exists today. In 1982, the second generation, represented by Sibbert Tj. Post, retired, and the third generation, led by Jack Post, continued the business.
1999 - 2026
In 1999, the fourth generation joined the company when Roderick Post became part of the organisation. Since 2005, Roderick has been Managing Director of the company. He continued a strong family tradition and led the company into the 21st century.
2026 - today
For more than a century, we have built our reputation on our specialist marine expertise, long-standing relationships and deep understanding of the markets we serve.
